I am not against dealing with drug addiction but what upsets me is in and during these conversations. i never hear one word about how they plan to protect those of us that need these narcotics for pain management. I have spinal damage from a tractor accident and had 4 surgeries on it. How about including people like me in this conversation we are tired of getting ignored. We are also tired of being treated like criminals trying to get our health needs met. Where is our rights to proper healthcare?

The only crisis is drug addicts seeking to get high. I can tell you right now if it were not for pain medication i would have killed myself because the pain was so intense. So outlawing prescription meds is not the solutions.

And addiction is a personal choice, if you want to quit you can. I know personally. Humble yourself realize you are weak and helpless and then go to GOD on your knees and keep going till you are heard. Luke 18 :1-8.

I think it must be a 2 pronged approach. Criminalization on the supply side, treatment on the demand side. You would also slow the flow with a wall.
Also, the healthcare industry needs to adjust to the problem as well. I myself have had 3 major surgeries in the last year. I have been presscribed basically 5 days worth of percs each time. Yet I have found 2 to 3 days to be sufficient in each case, and in fact never filled the second prescrip, as I used my left overs from surgery #1. In the meantime we need to research drugs that can reduce major pain, without the harmful side effects so that we can retire the opiods.

Recreational addicts are resolving their drug choices with overdoses. Seems like the focus should be on individuals with pain management issues.

In this crisis, the patients with chronic pain or real diseases are suffering because they’ve been cut off. Thank god not me. I have an autoimmune disease called FMF (Familial Mediterranean Fever) which requires opioid medication. I rather not live then experience FMF attacks with no opioid medication. This is life for me! Never did drugs other than smoke weed which I don’t anymore.

As someone who had to use Opiods as prescribed they are a great tool for pain management when used as prescribed. Limiting their use because people who it to get high is not the correct use. Their are thousands, heck millions of people out there who use this drugs for their prescribed use that are having a difficult time to get their medications just because some people are using them for recreational purposes. It's time we stop criminalizing drug use and start to actually treat the reasons people want to abuse said drugs. It's good to see a fellow libertarian like Glenn Jacobs fighting the good fight. If we just had more liberty minded people like him we wouldn't be in this mess we are.
