Why Is Cortisol So Important With Candida

August 17, 2019

Greetings! Eric Bakker, naturopath from New Zealand. Thanks for tuning in. I’m the author of a book called Candida Crusher
and I’m the formulator of a range of products for treating people with all kinds of gut
problems called CanXida. Thanks for tuning in. We’re going to talk about cortisol today and
its importance. I just found an interesting article in a local
newspaper about why cortisol is so important. I regularly get asked by people through Facebook,
YouTube and different other areas of the internet why cortisol is so important. Why the adrenal function has any bearing in
getting people to overcome a Candida yeast infection or whether it be a parasite problem
or a gut problem in general or many other kinds of immune dysfunctions that people get. Cortisol is an exceedingly important hormone
that the adrenal glands make. The adrenals make adrenaline and cortisol,
two main stress hormones. Adrenaline is more important in the “alarm
phase” or the early stages of stress. It’s driven up to a very high demand by people
who put incredible urgency and pressure on themselves these days. Today, we tend to push the adrenaline up artificially
also by caffeine, by lots of coffee and tea that we drink. Cortisol tends to be more the delayed response
for stress and tends to have more of an effect in the adaptation and exhaustion phases. Even much more so than the adrenaline. Traditionally, when you look at stress in
our lives as humans, we used to suffer from famines, wars, floods and things like that. Really bad a long time ago. We still do today, but not to the extent that
we did. Cortisol was an important hormone to maintain
the integrity of the body with long term periods of stress. Many of you people watching this video right
now will have long term periods of stress. Maybe you’re not in a famine or a flood. Maybe you’re not at war, although we have
got wars in many countries around the world today. There is no arguing that. The big problem with cortisol today is people
who’ve got very big mortgages or long term low grade relationship stress or they’ve got
work stress or some kind of stress that they’re living under. Some constraint. A big link between cortisol here particularly
is cortisol in its higher doses is going to help slow the metabolic rate down because
it’s thinking that you’re going to be stressed long term, so it’s going to preserve the body. It’s going to preserve the fat stores. This is one reason why people get that kind
of spare tire as they tend to get more stressed out. As stress continues on and on, the cortisol
slowly drops off and this basically takes the power away from your immune system because
the white cells can’t work effectively anymore with low cortisol. This is what maintains a yeast infection on
and on for some people. Sometimes for years. Vaginal, jock itch, skin problem, or a gut
dysfunction. So there’s a massive link between long term
low grade stress, low cortisol, and poor immune function. Particularly, as I mentioned in the initial
stages with high stress with high adrenaline and high cortisol until it hasn’t been quite
depleted yet, the person’s going to get a very powerful immune suppressing effect, which
makes them more prone to acute infectious disease. They won’t necessarily feel the pain so much,
but they may get a lot of weight loss in the initial few years. As that continues on, the fatigue occurs more,
the immune dysfunction occurs more, the long term yeast infections occur more, and they’re
very hard to shift. You can read all about it in my book, Candida
Crusher, or you can check it out on the other videos I’ve made regarding adrenal fatigue,
cortisol, and Candida yeast infections. Thanks for tuning into this video. Click on the link if you haven’t got my report
and don’t forget to subscribe. Thank you.

I appreciate your videos and I purchased your book. What I like about everything you reccomend is you seem to be very ballanced and I truly believe everyone could benefit from following your recommendations! The one issue I had with your book is it was so much information it made me feel overwhelmed but I did like the fact that all the information I needed was all in one place! After taking antibiotics for pneumonia I started getting yeast infections every month. The itching would clear up at the start of my period but would get really bad about a week after my period and went on like this for about a year. I started having green smoothies with fruit once or twice a day and my itching disappeared in less than a week and hasn't returned for about 6 weeks now. I am even cheating on my diet sometimes and still feeling great! I was doing some research and heard that having well oxygenated blood will prevent candida from over taking your system because apparently oxygen kills candida. And greens especially arugula oxygenate the blood. I just wanted to share with you what worked for me and what a simple solution it was! Thank you for the help you provided and I hope this information will help you help others! Have a great day!!!

Hi! Dr. Crusher, Is the Cortisol the same as steriod shots use to treat lower back pain for desgenerative disc? Because I was treated for this condition and I had a terrible reaction, causing me a severe inflamation in my joints, articulations, muscles and bones. My doctors suspended all treatments for my pain condition after tying to adjust the medication for second time, I still had a less severe side effects to the treatment, but the inflamation in my joints, articulations and muscles persisted, getting worse over time.

Dr Bakker, is there a relationship between Raynaud's syndrome and Candida/Digestive issues? I get very cold hands and feet even though the rest of my body is perfectly warm.

Thanks for the Canxida Restore supplement, after 20 years my heartburn has finally gone, that and avoiding Cow's milk.

🔶Hello, Mate. I have been diagnosed with yeast infection and ringworm and used Nystatin cream and fluconzole systemics with no improvement.
I'm very concerned because my eye is infected(inside and around), I have white spots in the back of my throat, itchy persistent rashes on my face, neck, lips ears, back of my knee around my eye and an itchy rash covering my penis(I'm not sexually active) Also, a couple of mild rashes are showing up on my knuckles and arms…It all seems fungal related and I was wondering if I have Invasive Candidimia…Any thoughts?

    Enjoying your videos…
I've been fighting (systemic) candida on and off for more then 6 years now (and probably having it since my childhood – for as long as I remember I always had a sweet tooth). First time I started cleanse (on my own) it was extremely successful and with severe die off. It looked I was cured for more then a year, then I went back to my old love – sugar…So now I am on a rollercoaster… Garlic, kefir, oregano, acv, lemon all work very well combined with balanced diet, but I cheat as soon as I start feeling better. My worst downfall is when I start eating bread and pastry (in addition to the cookies and cake of course) and I am talking only about small amounts…There is no more grace period. I get yeast infection immediately! I also noticed that I don't get the die off any more when I start treatment again and more different symptoms are surfacing and rotating. But what confuses me is that during all these years having and fighting candida I never feel tired…People talk about exhaustion and I am always go, go even when I only get a couple hours of sleep. Now I am also menopausal (and very skinny), which adds severe insomnia, yet never feel tired let alone exhausted… Any idea why?

Hi, I have been on a diet to get rid of fungus in my blood by my neuropathic. I've cut off dairy, sugar and carbs. lets say if I have been on the diet for a month and i wanna take a break from the diet for a week would that make the fungus that i have lost to come back? because it's really hard for me to completely cut off carbs and sugar for that long!
    Thank You

What would you recommend as a good colon cleanse to remove fungus from the intestines and colon?

What would be the best approach to begin bringing the candida back to normal levels. Thank you for your response, it is greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a direction to get this under control.

You say a cup of coffee with almond sugar free silk is ok. I've read in other places that no, which is the right one? I will get your book indeed.

I understand, I just want to be on the right track to getting healed, I started antifungals, probiotics and a clean diet. I'm going to get your book and see what things I can add. Maybe do a consultation this weekend.

Could it be a high cortisol level that prevent the body from recovery ?
What do you think if the person have brain fog and did the candida diet and improved abit
I mean when it comes to anixiety and panic could it be high cortisol or low because i did the diet for enough time with probotics and anti fungal
And i am sure the candida is not the cause of my depression

Hi Dr. I enjoy watching your videos. We are planning on going through your candida diet from the 1. Jan next Year as I still breastfeed my baby. I have candida since I was 18 that I know of. Now I am 29. Have been through a ugly depression and still have brain fog. Thankfully my husband never allowed me to use medication. My question is, when I will treat the candida, will my cortisol level also become normal again?
