VA News – December 16, 2019

December 25, 2019

Hello everyone, I’m Army Veteran, Dr. Lynda
Davis, this is VA News. Flu season is upon us, and flu prevention
and treatment are a top priority at VA this season. Vaccination is your surest way to protect
against getting the flu and you have a couple of options. First, VA medical centers and clinics in every
state of the country are staffed and ready to provide Veterans with their annual flu
shot for free. Second, enrolled Veteran patients nationwide
have the option of getting their flu shot at any of Walgreens’ 9,600 locations, at
no cost now through March 31, 2020. Make sure to protect yourself and your loved
ones this year by getting a flu shot, instead of getting the flu, and save those days off
of work for quality time with family and friends. Already the government leader in customer
satisfaction, the National Cemetery Administration has taken another step forward, receiving
a customer satisfaction index score of 97%. This exceptional score is the highest ever
measured by the index, for any public or private sector service and it is 18 points higher
than the average. For more information on the benefits and service
offered by the National Cemetery Administration, please visit cem.va.gov A new Veteran-centric television channel called
the Veterans News Network is being piloted in select VA medical centers across the country. Also known as VNN, the network was created
for Veterans, largely by Veterans, to help educate, empower and inspire Veterans to live
their best lives. Viewers can expect to learn about critical
benefits information, health information, highlights from VA adaptive sports events,
and catch up on the top stories from around VA. The network is currently featured in more
than a dozen facilities from Portland to Tampa, and numerous centers or hospitals in between. That’s all for this edition of VA News, I’m
Dr. Lynda Davis, a soldier for life. Thanks for watching!
