 Tropical storm Sebastien is the latest system to take to the Atlantic ocean, as hurricane season draws to a close The storm began as a depression earlier this week, with a 50 percent chance of becoming a tropical storm Now, Sebastien is powering towards the US and steadily gathering steam as it goes   Tropical storm Sebastian is swirling to the east of Puerto Rico, where it began forming earlier this week  The storm is currently forecast to continue towards Bermuda, before making another easterly turn this week  At present, Sebastien is spinning with winds of 50mph, having strengthened from 45mph yesterday    READ MORE Cold weather: How to save money on your heating as temperatures drop  The latest advisory from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Hurricane Centre (NHC) states the storm will push north later today  The advisory reads: “At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the centre of Tropical Storm Sebastien was located near latitude 21 1 North, longitude 61.7 West. “Sebastien is moving toward the west near 7 mph (11 km/h)  “A turn to the north is expected later today. A turn to the northeast with an increase in forward speed is expected tonight and Thursday ” “Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. “Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours  “Sebastien is expected to become an extratropical cyclone in a couple of days and be absorbed by a cold front on Friday  “Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles (260 km) from the centre ”  READ MORE Best supplements for flu: Drinking this tea could help flu symptoms  Hurricane Sebastien has gathered steam near Puerto Rico as hurricane season enters its final month  The season comes in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans each year, defined by accelerated hurricane and tropical storm activity  Hurricane season usually lasts from July to November every year. The season is expected to conclude by November 30, but tropical storms can form beyond this point   Trending  According to the Weather Channel, three percent of hurricanes form towards the end of hurricane season, after November 18  Over the last 69 years, 24 tropical and subtropical storms have formed between November 18 and December 31  The trend means a tropical storm has developed once every three years over this period  The last time a tropical storm formed in December was in 2007, with cyclone Olga
