Tips For Staying Healthy During Flu Season

March 4, 2020

Hello everyone, this is Dr. Shailinder Sodhi and today I’m going to discuss about the flu season which is in peak
right now. Usually flu season begins in the United States from October onward
all the way to the mid spring. And it can happen anytime of the year, though, but
this is the time when it is more pronounced and it Peaks during mid
January through February when we are seeing a lot more patients at the
clinics with the flu. So I got a few questions from my patients and
they’re wondering what can be done at home. Every year we have new flu viruses,
so, you know, that’s one of the things about it. Even though you might
feel like getting vaccinations and all that that might give you some protection
but it is not guaranteed so what my suggestions to my patients is: keep your self strong enough to fight off the flu viruses. So how do you
make your immune system strong? The one thing you want to do is to
make sure there are certain supplements which are known to support your immune
system. My specialty is in Ayurvedic herbs, so I’m definitely going
to talk about those in this small video shoot. So the herbs which I like people to consider is Tulsi, which is also called
holy basil and latinum is also known as Ocimum sanctum. Then, the other herb which really supports the immune system is Amla, which is Indian gooseberry. The latiin name is Phyllanthus emblica. The third herb I’m going to mention is called
Guduchi. The Sanskrit name is Amrita and that latin name is Tinospora cordifolia. So these three herbs are very much immune modulators. That means they make your immune system strong enough to fight off any of these viruses during the season when they are occurring. So, definitely,
you want to take these herbs either by making the tea or in a combination. These herbs we also have in formulation called Flucomune, which is
actually the combination of fibers which contains Amla, Tulsi, Guduchi, Bahera and licorice. Licorice is also a very wonderful herb because it
has an immune supportive effect as well. So, you know by just keeping taking
these herbs will maintain your immune system strong enough. Other things
you can also do is consider vitamin C or zinc lozenges, they are also very
helpful to keep your immune system strong enough. And hydration, of course, if you are suffering from the flu and making herbal teas from the Tulsi will
help you. Also, ginger tea will be helpful during this
time of the year. I hope these small things will help you
to maintain your immune system strong enough. Thank you for watching be sure to LIKE the video and subscribe to our Channel.
