So the flu vaccine has been offered to
pregnant women in the UK since 2010 and it’s been offered to pregnant women
across the world and for many years and been studied very closely. All of the
evidence suggests that the flu vaccine is very safe, including in pregnancy.

project has been going for seven years and it’s been an international
collaboration led by Steve Withers at the University of British
Columbia in Canada. CSIRO’s role has been looking at how they prevent viruses
from reproducing in cell culture but also importantly
looking at resistance. So there are other drugs on the market to which the viruses
are now becoming resistant. So it’s important to
know that our drugs work against these
resistant viruses. And the ones that we’ve tested
them against are effective.
