Stomach Flu vs the Flu? – ACCESS POINT HEALTH

December 10, 2019

– Now that flu season is coming, do you get confused by the
flu and the stomach flu? So they are two separate,
different things. So you can get a stomach
bug or stomach flu, which is a completely separate
bug than the flu, influenza. Now let’s first talk about
the actual flu, influenza. Now this is the only one that can be prevented by the flu shot. Now, the flu shot will not prevent the stomach flu or the stomach bug. So let’s talk about influenza, so the flu. Usually influenza, so the actual real flu, you don’t need to have all these symptoms but you can have some of them, and usually people that
get the flu vaccine, if we have the right match for that year, you either have, don’t get
it or get less symptoms. But here are all the common symptoms. So usually you get a high fever, you can get nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, muscle ache, chills, sweats, fatigue, and weakness, and more. And of course you can get serious complications from the flu. Now stomach flu, so the
gastral, the stomach bug is completely different
from the flu or influenza. And it is also, they’re both contagious. So you usually get GI symptoms,
so diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach cramps,
muscle aches, headaches, and usually sometimes a mouth fever. Again, you don’t need to
get all of these symptoms. So to your health, and hopefully you don’t get any of these this season, but that’s how you can maybe
decipher the difference. Thanks.
