Skip the Flu this Season ~ #smhTopTips

November 17, 2019

– Hello, I’m Dr. Berry
with Sarasota Memorial Urgent Care Centers. Lets talk about flu prevention. There are several things that you can do to protect yourself
and others from getting and spreading the flu. First we recommend the flu vaccine for all adults and children
older than six months of age. We offer these vaccines at
all six of our locations and are open seven days a
week for your convenience. Influenza is a respiratory virus spread by cough, nasal
and oral secretions. So here’s what you can do to help prevent the spread to others. Number one, stay home if you are sick. You are the most contagious
the first few days of illness. Number two, cover your cough. Number three, practice good hand hygiene. Wash your hands thoroughly
with soap and water or use hand sanitizer frequently. Number four, clean the
commonly touched surfaces in your home, doorknobs, light switches, refrigerator handle, telephone. This will help reduce
the spread of illness to other members of your family. I hope this is helpful and wish you good health this flu season.
