Oseltamivir a Prescription Used to Treat Certain Types of Flu – Overview

October 19, 2019

Oseltamivir is a prescription medication used
to treat certain types of flu in those who have had symptoms of the flu for no longer
than 2 days. This medication is also used to prevent certain strains of flu if you have
been exposed to someone who has it or when there is a flu outbreak. Oseltamivir belongs
to a group of drugs called neuraminidase inhibitors. These work by stopping the spread of the flu
virus in the body. Oseltamivir helps shorten the time that flu symptoms such as a stuffy
or runny nose, sore throat, cough, muscle or joint aches, tiredness, headache, fever,
and chills last. This medication comes a capsule and an oral suspension. It is usually taken
once a day, with or without food. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and stomach
pain. For more information on this medication and all other medications, explore the RxWiki
