Opioid Epidemic Town Hall Meetings PSA

February 16, 2020

Hi, I’m Scott Rocco, Superintendent of Schools. And I’m Angelo Onofri, Mercer County prosecutor. Right now, we are facing a worldwide epidemic of opioid drug use. It’s gripping our nation, our state, and it’s affecting us right here in Mercer County. According to experts, there are over 1.5 million active heroin users in the United States and 4 out of 5 heroin users started their path to addiction with legally prescribed opioids. Each day in New Jersey eight people die from a drug overdose. Drug addiction is happening on every street, in every neighborhood, in every town. No one is immune. That’s why educating yourself about this issue is essential. Please join us at one of our town hall meetings on April 9th at Hamilton High
School West on April 23rd at Steinert High School and on April 25th at Nottingham High School for an open and frank discussion on the rise of heroin use in our community. Meetings begin at 6:30 PM. You can visit the district website for more information. Thank you and we’ll see you in April.
