Match Day 2019 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine

December 13, 2019

(upbeat music) – My name is Jon Morris. I’m the associate Dean for Student Affairs at the Perelman School of Medicine and we are thrilled to
welcome you to Match Day 2019! (audience applauds) – I’m feeling really
excited but also I think it’s hard to know how I’m feeling. So it’s just been so much emotion and anticipation building up to this time. – Today I really feel like is about my, all the people that supported me. My family, my partner, my
mentors and today’s about them and celebrating everyone
who helped me along the way because I didn’t make
it here today by myself. (audience cheers) – Class of 2019, we are so proud of you. (audience applause) – This is a day you’ll remember for a very long time. – [Man] Alright, here we go. (audience applauds)
(upbeat music) – I matched at Penn for
Interventional Radiology and their Integrated Program. I’m so excited to be with the group here. I’ve been looking forward
to today for a while and just wanting to know where I’ll go and what the next six years
are going to look like. – It was a tremendous feeling. I mean to see her joy in learning and all that Penn was teaching her and that I that I could just see her just jumping in there and taking those opportunities
and enjoying every moment. – Knowing that, that
envelope has your future for the next four years
and all the adrenaline that came and my hands were shaking. I opened it and then I
just, all the emotions kind of hit me at once that I’ve
been suppressing for months. I got my top choice. I’ll be going to UCFS in San Francisco. – I will remember this forever. Just that feeling of so much build up and excitement opening my envelope and then so much relief
finding out where I’m going. I matched with Stanford
for Radiation Oncology and I am so excited that it’s really going to be a new experience. Such a change of scene to
move out to the West Coast. – I’m staying at Penn for Internal Medicine and I have an amazing group of people who are staying with me. – It’s been an unbelievable journey. It’s been emotional and today’s really the culmination of such hard work and
we couldn’t be prouder. (audience applauds)
