Judge Says Big Pharma Doesn’t Have To Pay For Opioid Epidemic In New York

December 19, 2019

In a rather bizarre ruling this week, a district
judge in Manhattan actually struck down a law that was recently passed by lawmakers
in the state of New York that would have made opioid manufacturers and distributors pay
upwards of $600, million dollars to help the state cover the costs of battling the opioid
epidemic. Great law, great idea, exactly what needs
to happen, and even the judge said that like the reasoning and the rationale for this law
was 100 percent spot on and accurate. Unfortunately, because you won’t let you wrote
this into legislation, you’re not going to let drug companies and drug distributors pass
on those costs to the consumers. That somehow violates the commerce clause. So I have to strike down the whole thing. I don’t understand that line of logic whatsoever. I mean it. It violates the commerce clause somehow because
companies can’t screw over consumers to make them pay for the problems that pharmaceutical
companies started. Somebody for the love of God explained to
me how that makes any sense and how that could possibly violate the commerce clause. Companies do this kind of crap all the time. It’s externalizing the costs and it’s disgusting. You know, they, they want us to pay for their
messes. You know, whether it’s oil spills, whether
it’s massive chemical contamination or whether it’s the opioid epidemic. They want the victims, the consumers, the
people they lied to to cover the costs of it. That is what they argued in front of this
judge and this judge said, you know what? You’re right. It’s really not fair that if they’re going
to charge you $600 million, you can’t built $600 million out of consumers to make up for
it. That’s just not fair to you. Is it? Now? I don’t know anything about this judge. Maybe she is a wonderful person and I don’t
want to sit here and say that she is a horrible person, but this is a bad ruling. This is a very disgusting, bad and improper
ruling that she issued this week. Opioid companies knew what they were doing. The distributors knew what they were doing. Their documents prove that without a doubt,
so to say that it’s unfair to them or that it violates some dormant commerce clause that
hasn’t been used in decades is absolutely insane. These companies caused this crisis. The state of New York was trying to get them
to pay up for it and all these drug companies and distributors wanted to do was externalize
those costs and pass them back onto the consumers. And the judge in this case happened to think
that that was just a okay with her.

Hmm so they won't be held accountable lol okay

And I wonder just how much in the way bribes (legal and otherwise) landed in this judge's pocket before she struck down this law that was intended to hold these massively corrupt engines of greed accountable. This double standard between the wealthy elite and everyone else is disgusting, as is all the damage caused by the corruptive cancer that is corporate cash. And I hope that that judge winds up with protestors hounding her and making it clear just what they think of this ruling.

These companies that hide facts to make money need to be charge 1.5 % of what every they made off of that product. With the clause that doesn't let them pass the debt to the consumer. They make billions and get fined millions, so it's always a win for them. The only way to stop these scams is to make them pay more than they made.

The cruel, the greedy, the heartless that allied themselves with conservatives that want to bring the United States backward in time. The rich had invaded our government, robbed America due to Republicans failed trickle down economics, and turned many honest politicians, Democrats and Republicans, into their own personal corporate puppets and helping them benefit only to the rich, and destabilize our democracy. This entire oligarchy government, this entire country is run by the rich, and it seems that they have manipulated our Republicans and Democrats to stab us all in the back to benefit themselves and their corporate buddies with money and we get nothing from these tax cuts. They had abandoned all reason for madness, and it has only gotten worse.
Our true enemy is right there, and that is the rich. We see how their filth and their greed destroying our democracy and corrupting our country. We must crush these vermins, and we will remove the corrupted from our government!
I am asking each and every one of you to put aside your party ideologies that had divided us for so long. We will unite, we will stand together, and we will wipe out this plague. America, this democracy, will prevail! Are you in?

How Prudential-NOT!

And now Cuomo put that tax on consumers, pharmacists, and physicians. My grandmother can't fill her pain medicine prescription because pharmacists can't afford to get the medication in. I wrote to the health department asking them for guidance. They basically told me tough luck. They knew this would happen, and tell your grandmother's doctor to take her off opioid medication and use something else. She has bone cancer. Everyone who was apart of this should be ashamed of themselves. The American Cancer Society and patient advocates spoke out against doing this because of how it would affect patients. They went ahead with it anyway. Cuomo can go screw himself.

It's not an epidemic number one the CDC lied about the numbers or got them wrong and admitted to it oh, so what it is is a crisis of conscience or a crisis of money cuz America is money hungry nobody forced these people take these pills if they're dead because of it c'est la vie you don't blame the alcohol manufacturers for the death of your dad they made the alcohol, or the gun manufacturer for manufacturing a gun did somebody else picked up and have a operate with a hand, to pick up a pill and put it in your mouth or put a pill in Melton stick in your arm is a purposeful action don't blame some of that makes pills gpp put people out of their agony and helped by manufacturing life-saving drugs and putting more of a strain on them… Selfish bullshit American bullshit

  • Reply Buliders OTW August 28, 2019 at 10:36 am

There should be a responsibility Clause of the person or the parents of these people that are dying from taking too many pills, what the CDC lied about their numbers and they admitted it that's our numbers were almost 2/3 greater than what they really were by adding the Fentanyl and the heroin overdoses with the opiate overdose, the pill overdoses are one third of that number of 62000, and the judge was wrong of course the people and the parents are wrong of course parents have to be parents and watch your children that's your job, and if they turn into a addict or drug addict then get them help and if you can't help them well I don't know what to tell you but yeah the hole rulings wrong cuz you're punishing a company that developed a drug to help people that were suffering and pain like I do everyday these types of rulings hurt people in pain that are living with it daily but nobody gives a shit about them they'll just have to suffer right or the next time you're watching your grandmother suffer dying of cancer and that she asked for pain medication they said no you might overdose on it… Who gives a shit…
