Is Apple Cider Vinegar With Honey OK With Candida?

August 31, 2019

Greetings. Eric Bakker, Naturopath from New Zealand. Thanks for coming back. I’ve got another video today. This time we’re going to talk about apple
cider vinegar. Is apple cider vinegar okay to have with honey
as part of the candida diet? That’s your question asked to me by Sarah
from Sanford in Maine. I think Maine is on the east coast of America,
so Sarah is asking me about apple cider vinegar. Well, Sarah, check out this book here, Apple
Cider Vinegar from Paul Bragg. This is from the early ’80s. It’s on my bookshelf. You can see it behind me, both bookshelves. This is one of the many books I’ve got. I like Paul Bragg. Paul Bragg is just an amazing guy I think. What a wonderful guy. He passed away in his 80s, I think 90s he
passed away. A very big health crusader from way back. He influenced a lot of very famous people,
including Jack LaLanne, of course the guy who did jumping jacks, and Jack LaLanne was
that guy who actually was the first person to get women to the gyms to do weight training
when it was considered crazy for women to go into exercise rooms back then. I think it was back in the ’30s or ’40s. Bragg was a very big believer in apple cider
vinegar. I’ve got some books that are going back to
1920 talking about apple cider vinegar on my shelf I was just trying to find, but I
couldn’t find it. I love collecting old health books. Cider vinegar is different from apple cider
vinegar. Don’t confuse vinegar with apple cider vinegar. This is a fermented food. This is really something that most of the
sugar has been gobbled up, so you’re left with a very high potassium drink which is
very, very good for the body, very cleansing. So Bragg, when you go through his book … I
mean Bragg had recommendations for everything from balding to erectile dysfunction to stopping
retardation, everything. I mean this guy was incredible with his recommendations. Cider vinegar has a very big effect on the
digestive system, and because it’s so high in potassium it’s a really good food for that
reason alone. Potassium is a mineral that works with sodium. It’s I think the third most abundant mineral
in the body and it’s a very powerful electrolyte that helps to strengthen neural activity,
so potassium is exceedingly important for good brain function, good muscular function
and energy and vitality, good liver function, all your organs and your bones. Everything relies on good levels of potassium,
particularly potassium and sodium balance, blood pressure and many other regulations. This is like incredible. There are so many different cures attributed
to apple cider vinegar, it’s almost ridiculous. But if you have a look at a lot of the scientific
research, I mean it certainly has been linked with lowering cholesterol, even weight loss. Two tablespoons of cider vinegar per day for
12 weeks, you’re going to lose four pounds without even exercising or changing your diet
or doing anything else, just that alone, because it stimulates the metabolism. It has a positive effect on thyroid and adrenal
glands. It’s a wonderful, wonderful drink, but should
you have it with honey and can you have it with honey if you’ve got a yeast infection? Yes, you can, but you can go overboard. You can’t drink a gallon of this stuff a day
for example, not a good idea. You’re not going to have one or two pounds
of honey and a gallon of this. In my experience, if you tell people that
something is okay they tend to overdo it. I once made a recommendation, I mention this
on the video, for a patient to take vitamin E, so this guy bought some pills off me when
I worked in a health food shop about 30-something years ago and he gave his wife 30 vitamin
E capsules a day. So you have to really explain things carefully
for people and explain that you can overdo this. So two tablespoons per day is great with honey,
no problem if you’ve got candida, as long as you’re using a vinegar like Braggs or a
high quality fermented apple cider vinegar. Don’t get a tablespoon of honey and mix it
in a glass of water and drink that That’s not a good idea for candida. But if you bought the apple cider vinegar
with honey it’s better than mixing it yourself. So you’re best to buy cider vinegar with honey
in it rather the cider vinegar and then adding the honey to it, because I’m not sure if you’re
going to add a little bit of honey or several tablespoons with one teaspoon of cider vinegar. But if you buy it pre-made it’s an excellent,
excellent tonic for detoxification, cleansing. It can be used for two or three days as a
short fast, for example, to remove toxins from the body. Bragg, for example, says in his book that
just for two days you drink water and this cider vinegar with a bit of honey in it, just
for two days alone, and you collect the urine over that period and then you store it in
a jar and then you store that jar for a few days and then you have a look at it and you’ll
see all of the sediment and the crap that builds up in it. He believes it’s a lot of toxins that you’re
excreting from the body. I’m not so sure about that, the reasons why
you’re excreting this stuff. But it is a fantastic tonic. I highly recommend it with candida. I’ve got no problem if you do that. But if you buy a pre-made cider vinegar with
honey it’s better, and stick to two tablespoons per day. Put the tablespoon for example in eight ounces
of water and drink that before a meal, and you can do it similarly before lunch and before
the evening meal. If you have two tablespoons a day for one
to two weeks and you have no worsening of your gut problems for example or felt sick,
you could even step it to two tablespoons twice per day and go to four tablespoons a
day. But yes, I do recommend cider vinegar. Start off slowly and be cautious when you
use it and see how things go. I hope that answers your question Sarah. Thanks for the question. Don’t forget to click on the link below for

Hi, Can you do a video on natural treatments for kidney stones please. I have a 7mm stone which I would love to remove without having surgery.  I am a big believer in natural medicine and a video would help greatly. Thank you.

On my stool test, Candida albicans showed up but it was non pathogenic. Is that okay? Does it mean I have an overgrowth and should follow a candida diet? I hope you see this!

How do I treat weak stomach acid and candida at the same time? Is there a big overlap in the treatment of the two? I also wouldn't be surprised if I have some SIBO.

Love your videos. Whats your opinion on how strict you should be when restricting certain foods? For example i learned coconut everything is good for candida and leaky gut. Coconut water caught my eye at the store and it had a minimal amount of sugar. Does this mean its an absolutely no go? Or maybe the coconut benefits over power the sugar? Keep up the good work.

Thanks for tips but so much info out on the internet and on YouTube becomes a bit confusing! I've taken Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar with water and a tsp of raw honey for a number of weeks and I've also taken lemon juice in the A.M. and P.M. with water and even tried potato starch with water to kill the bugs in my micro biome because so many functional medical doctors/naturopaths have told me to take those for gut related issues Candida, Sibo , Leaky gut which I believe along with others led to my mild form of MS along with all the stress I had in life and being around some way too toxic negative people. So which should I take, just one of those drinks or is it ok to take all three during the course of the day. I don't like to overdo anything so should I just pick one and stick to it for a longer period of time to get results or can I get benefits from all three? Thanks~

Does it have to be raw honey? And will honey in tea work too?

The amount of potassium in apple cider vinegar is negligible… 73mg for 100g (theres no way you can consume 100g acv a day) compared to potatoes which have 421mg per 100g and that you can easily eat 300g a day of

I use applecider vinegar and hot water/lemon juice with 2 teaspoons of manuka honey (which is antimicrobial), before meals, and my sick gut tolerates it well.
