Flu on the rise in North Texas

November 18, 2019

– Well, it’s finally here. We’re starting to have a flu season. We’ve seen a significant
uptick in flu cases over the last few weeks. We’re seeing them both among patients who are vaccinated as well as
those who are unvaccinated. The fortunate thing is that
the patients who are vaccinated tend to have a much less
severe case of the flu. We’re not seeing the hospitalizations or the complications in those patients who have received the flu vaccine. So I strongly urge you to go
out, if you have not already, and get your flu shot. It is still the very
best protection we have against influenza, as well
as coughing into your arm and washing your hands. From North Hills Hospital,
I’m Dr. Curtis Johnson.
