Endometriosis

August 14, 2019

Endometriosis is
a condition where tissue, similar to the
lining in your uterus, grows in other
areas of your body. If you are a woman,
your reproductive system includes the vagina, uterus,
fallopian tubes, and ovaries. During a normal
menstrual cycle, you’re ovaries make chemicals
called hormones, which signal the lining of
your uterus to thicken. The lining, called
the endometrium, builds up to prepare to
receive a fertilized egg. If the egg isn’t
fertilized, the uterus sheds the lining
through your vagina. This monthly bleeding is
called your menstrual period. If you have endometriosis,
the lining type tissue grows outside your uterus for
reasons that aren’t clear. The misplaced tissue
response to the hormones just like it would if it
were inside your uterus. The tissue continues
to thicken, then sheds, and bleeds with
every menstrual cycle. However, the blood
and tissue that are shed outside the uterus
have no way to leave your body. The trapped endometrial flow can
irritate the surrounding area causing inflammation and pain. Bands of scar tissue,
called adhesions, may form, sticking
one organ to another or causing your
fallopian tubes to close. This can affect your
fertility, which is the ability to
become pregnant. Endometriosis can form
endometriomas, also known as chocolate cysts. These cysts are fluid
filled sacs on your ovaries that can affect fertility. Endometriosis may also
result in abnormal bleeding. The most common sites
for endometriosis are the ovaries,
fallopian tubes, the outside of your uterus,
the supporting structures around your uterus, and
the lining of your pelvis, called the peritoneum. Other sites include
your bladder, rectum, and intestines. If you have endometriosis,
you may have one or more of these symptoms,
chronic usually worsening central pelvic pain, pain before
or during your period, pain during sex felt deep
within your pelvis, painful urination
during your period, painful bowel movements
during your period, abnormal bleeding, diarrhea,
constipation, or nausea, and difficulty getting
pregnant called infertility. Your doctor may recommend
treatment options from the following categories,
pain management medications, such as aspirin,
acetaminophen, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
also known as nsaids, provide relief from pain. Hormone therapy, such
as birth control pills, can prevent monthly endometrial
buildup and bleeding. You may need a
surgical procedure to treat the tissue
causing pain or bleeding. Examples of such procedures
include, removal or destruction of endometrial issue, removal
of adhesions and scar tissue, removal or drainage of
cysts, removal or destruction of nerve fibers that transmit
pain, removal of your uterus, called a hysterectomy, or
removal of your ovaries, called an oophorectomy.

I’ve been on my period for almost three months. My periods have been like this and they are very heavy. I’ve been getting sicker and sicker. I’ve been having migraines awhile and nausea. Recently I’ve started throwing up. I can’t eat and so I have nothing to throw up. I’m so weak and lightheaded. I’ve even had problems with my temp. But the thing is I don’t have a cold and I’m not running a fever but I feel as tho I’m burning up yet it’s 64 degrees in my house. I’ve never had sex. When I tried to use a tampon last year I could only use an extra small and it’d only go halfway. Now I can get it all the way in but it hurts so bad. Ofc when it was in halfway it’d hurt bad too but not this bad. I waddle and cry. I can’t sit down or bend even a little. I’m miserable. I can’t get it out when it’s in either. It’s so much pain. I only want to wear a tampon for the pool since I’m always on my period. I thought once maybe if I get in the water it will absorb the water and it’ll stop hurting. After all maybe I was too dry or so I thought but it wasn’t that. Getting in the water made it worse. I spent 2 hours trying to get it out. My friend helped me get on the toilet even tho it hurt me so badly. The fact that an extra small hurts and feels too big is sad. I do have lower back pain. Idk if this is tied to it but I’ve always had poor circulation in my legs and feet. It hurts when I lose it and I lose it a lot. I need answers. I’m getting a gyno app set up soon. I’d still like to know if maybe I have this. Are these signs of endometriosis?

i used to get periods cramps so bad when i first got my period that i couldn’t walk and or stand up and was constantly texting my mom to come get me out of school. then i stopped drinking pop and caffeinated drinks like coffee a few years ago, I’ve noticed a huge difference because i don’t get super bad cramps nowadays and i only
notice get slightly annoying cramps if i don’t drink enough water leading up to my period

  • Reply Simon Cowell July 21, 2019 at 9:25 am

When I have mine I cant walk, speak properly, or even cry because I dont have time to cry just feel pain. I just yell and shuffle around in pain. I cant eat for the first day because I throw it all back up and then the second day feel sick after eating the bare minimum. I feel lazy and weak and if I try to walk to the bathroom it's like I'm gonna faint. I overheat, get cold, overheat etc. I shake breathe really fast and have uncontrollable movements at times. Idk about you but if I was in pain I wouldn't be writing this right now. Oh and dont forget the pooping, lots of pooping when I get the energy to move. Basically live in the bathroom for 1 day. And then dont forget afterwards I have to clean out the garbage bins I threw up in or floor if I didn't have one nearby, clean the 10 pairs of underwear, and then if I'm really lucky wash my bedsheets (I lay on a towel while on my period) if I manage to mess them up. Fun times, fun fun times.

Even for normal girls/women period cramps are highly unbearable. Those without such cramps are very lucky. That being said, I can only imagine the pain in case women with endometriosis. It definitely must have been many fold.

I have really bad period cramps only on the first day of my period. The rest of the days are bearable. The pain is so bad that I can’t stomach anything at all including water. I end up puking it up after 30 seconds. And I basically become very delirious and sweat a lot and the pain is very bad and I can’t poop at all. 😂 basically hell. I don’t know what it is, but Idk if I want to get it checked it out not. But does anybody go through this too? I basically have pregnancy symptoms.
