Unfortunately in South Carolina we know
the impact of HIV all too well. As of December 2017, nearly 20,000 South Carolina residents are living with diagnosed HIV infection, including AIDS. However, HIV infections are preventable and we in South Carolina are committed to addressing this ongoing public health threat by providing access to compassionate care and treatment services for those currently living with HIV, educating the public on methods of prevention, and supporting science-based advancements to end the disease. I am confident that together we can make
considerable strides in treating and preventing the continued spread of HIV. Together we can protect the health of our communities across our state, the nation, and beyond. Together we can end the HIV epidemic. Thank you all for joining us today.
