Eating Carbs For The First Time In 10 Years! // Diet Update: Candida and FODMAP [Cc]

Hello, hello! So today i am wearing a ball gown Because Because reasons My tip for the day, er, when you feel ill, sparkle That should be in my book Thank you for your like, really kind comments yesterday About my brace Thank you also to those of you who commented on my You Decide, Yeah! It was really good to hear what you’re interested in and what you want to see more of So Watch the video and tell me what you want to see I know it’s been a few months probably Er, since I updated you erm on my diet, I hate, I really hate the sign for diet is diet But I think that it should be diet, because it’s actually, I mean food But the reason that I kind of haven’t told you more About the foodstuffs I like now Is that I, kind of the classic, obvious thing Where I had a pretty major setback It’s that thing, that thing, where you’re feeling so good Like, yeah it’s going really well But because you’ve been really regimented Erm, with yourself yeah, yeah, I’m feeling great, I’m feeling good So you get invited to someone’s birthday party And you’re like, yeah, I’ll be grand, I’ll be fine. Everyone’s having dinner and you’re like yeah, I’ll get involved, I’ll get involved A ha ha ha No Do not do that So we had this amazing night out We were just partying away, but I just kind of couldn’t get back on track After that Which is a bit of a problem Er, just all vomiting, like for a whole week and I ate, there was a huge spike in my Well, I guess not a spike, because it’s like a drop Anyway, my blood pressure would just drop So, I was having to lie on the floor with my legs in the air trying to get all the blood back to my head So I could stop thinking after I eat things It felt like my brain was about to explode It was just, madness and erm, that really freaks me out because I had two years probably two years of that I was just, ugh, sick, pass out, on the floor My god, if you told nineteen year old me I’d actually be able to sit up one day that would have been exciting So, yeah, at the same time as this stuff going wrong, I was also seeing my doctor, my gastroenterologist, and they want to put me on the FODMAP diet, which is Also I’m not going to fingerspell gastroenterologist And at the same time, vlogmas was about to start and And it just wasn’t … But things get better, they always get better I thing that was really holding me back, erm from the candidia diet I’m kind of becoming well on it really, was that I, I had very little sugar previously When I started the diet I had cut out all of the sugar that I did have I had to cut all the sugar that I did have Which was mainly berries But I hadn’t added back in any of the carby things which you are meant to have Now, you are supposed to have, which you desperately need. I know, i know Always the brightest spark Claudia sat me down and was like, this is ridiculous The whole goal of this journey that I’m on is that so that I can start eating Eating things that make my life a bit easier I want to be able to eat everything In the gluten free So, we have been trying one new thing every fortnight And this is how it’s gone so far Number one, bananas This includes banana pancakes erm, I’ve had some smoothies, I actually hate smoothies but there you go Grain free banana muffins If you haven’t eaten them for a long time, your tummy will really hurt It’s not a good idea no no Erm, plus side It’s really yummy, it’s really good I feel like the amount of sugar in bananas is probably too much for me More than one a day but I guess, you know, normal people probably don’t eat more than one a day do they? Number two, sweet potato I do know that that is baby sign but So now I’m a brace face, Sweet potatoes are pretty much my lifeline I eat one a day I would say They are so good They’ree really mushy, and they give me so much energy I now get headaches if I don’t have a sweet potato a day That’s wierd, I think I’m addicted to sweet potatoes number three, quinoa Don’t make me spell that It made me really sick, like really really sick It was disgusting Number four, potatoes, the regular kind So far, I have eaten chips. Chips? I ‘ve eaten chips, erm, roast potatoes Erm, I found that the easiest thing to eat is definitely chips I don’t know, maybe it has something to do with the fat content Because I’m used to eating really fatty foods Eating it in any other kind of way, I can only, I can only eat about, Like half Of a potato But with chips I can eat more No, but I think it’s kind of building up that tolerance Erm, I definitely couldn’t have eaten these before eating the sweet potatoes I don’t think I think that really helped, having one of those a day built up my tolerance to regular potatoes Number five, sugary fruits No No, don’t be silly I don’t want to give myself a heart attack. the vomiting is gross enough, but the heart palpitations freak me out when i eat sugary things, so But, back to berries, which is good, yeah! Number six, rice Rice makes me very excited because, you maybe know, I think I’ve discussed this before But, Claudia is half Malaysian And most of her favourite foods all involve rice She eats Chinese Malay food and I love it, and I want to eat so much more of it, OMG When we were in Malaysia, everything, I was just like OMG, everything, put everything in my mouth now I eat so much, it is ridiculous So, I’ve tried rice now, in both the, erm, kind of grain form and in the more kind of mushy form, Used as rice flour to make something Dim sum, there you go. I was so happy I could cry, I think I did cry It was so good And, the first time it did hurt, my stomach a little bit, and I was a little bit sick, but not that much But then it could also have been because some of the sauces were very sugary So, then I was a lot more careful and I didn’t have the sugary sauces Just had things that involved the rice, and slight tummy pain but no sick And then the third time, erm, my tummy didn’t hurt at all, it was really wonderful, it made me happy The dream of being able to eat lots of things in the gluten free aisle, is definitely becoming more of a reality Yeah! Yeah, like this video, especially if you want to see more erm, or me trying new foods, I might just sit here on camera and try some new food There are so many things that I’ve not, I’ve not eaten for like fifteen years popcorn, what does popcorn even taste like anymore?     Oh no! I'm so sorry you had such a setback. πŸ™ But it's amazing that you love sweet potatoes so much! Are you going to film a sweet potato recipe video for us? I wish Claudia could cook Malaysian food for me one day. I'm already in love with Indian and Pakistani food and I can just imagine that Malaysian food is as good! I'm so excited that you can add more foods to your diet again. It makes me really really happy <3

    This is fantastic news Jessica! Here's to more foods being introduced and you getting more energy. I try little and often to allow my body to break content down easier and that seems to work for me. Just take it steady. You're having to train your body again which will take time.     Hello from a new subscriber πŸ™‚ I can completely relate to you! I have so many digestive issues (I have 5 conditions that affect my stomach lol). I'm on a fructose free, low acid, wheat free and vegetarian diet plus there's quite a few other things that make me really sick (like eggs) and doctors can't work out why. One of them is quinoa and you're the first person I've ever heard of who also reacts terribly to it! I get SO sick every time I have it. But I can have potatoes, sweet potatoes and rice, and they are the biggest staples of my diet and so delicious too! It's not ideal but at least it has forced me to learn how to get really creative in the kitchen, haha!

    I can relate to you so much when I comes to forgetting what things taste like πŸ˜€
    I have a lot of digestive Issues as well. I have celiac disease ,I am lactose intolerant ,fructose intolerant and I can't digest very sugary things in general .I am allergic to soy ,basically every kind of nut ,eggs ,garlic ,apples, bananas , carrots, peach , avocado , cherry BUT luckily non of them is so terrible that I could go into anaphylactic shock .
    So I am constantly trying new things and finding think I can start to put in my diet and things I can and to the list "to avoid " πŸ˜€
    An for me It is very important to eat the biggest variety possible ,because if I eat specific foods a lot my body reacts to it .
    That is sadly currently happening with corn starch which is a quite tricky situation for a person with celiac disease …

    You could try avocados, it has fatty content so maybe it might not upset your stomach or make you feel sick?

    Hey I just thought I’d throw out this suggestion of coconut flour baked German pancakes with berries on top. They’re called, baby something? Baby cakes? I don’t know. I stay grain and wheat free for my family as it upsets everyone’s tummy and skin but I got really tired of everything being almond flour based. So coconut flour is a staple for me. I hope your diet heals your tummy over time so you can continue to feel better and have higher energy levels

    I have Candida too but it's getting a lot better…I'm onnthe 2nd stage of fixing it been on a combo of FODMAP and AIP Paleo. I was only allowed 1/2 a cup of berries a day but that's it. Now I can eat all fruit unless it reacts on me (no kiwi or melon).

    * not trying to be mean to you just trying to help explain* You're not addicted to sweet potatoes. If you eat enough of something on a regular basis your body builds a reliance on the nutrients of that food and if you then suddenly stop eating that food your body stops getting the nutrients that it has built a reliance on and basically gives you a headache to tell you that it needs those nutrients. Example a girl in America ate nothing but chicken nuggets for two years now if she stops eating them the nutrients her body collects from the nuggets are not there and the reliance it has built will send her into a coma or shock.

    I love all things that are terrible for me. Meat, chocolate, cheese, energy drinks, etc. I do also like veg though, and other good things, but I don't eat them as often as I should. I started working as a nanny for a woman I went to high school with, who is the exact opposite. Everything she and her kids is eat is organic, dairy-free, gluten-free, often vegan food. Because of being around her I've discovered a LOT of foods that really aren't as bad as I thought they'd be. Gluten-free foods are a hit or miss, some can be be very dry and mealy, but others I've found to be tastier than their glutinous counterparts! So far, the best has been a store bought dairy-free, gluten-free macaroni and cheese that I make for her kids all the time. Surprisingly really delicious rice flour pasta and the creamy cheese is coconut oil based I think, with vegan seasonings. She makes a lot of food on her own as well, in a slow cooker frequently. She spends one day a month preparing food to put into freezer bags for the entire month and then just pops one out in the evening to cook up. With 2 kids under 5, a husband, a full-time job, a home to take care of and all the yoga classes, church, etc, etc. (I'm tired just thinking about it) she doesn't have a lot of extra time or energy. I'll ask her where she finds her recipes because she makes damn delicious food despite the limitations. What you eat can be delicious! I'm so proud of you for taking those leaps and pushing those boundaries and finding ways to enjoy life a little more and nourish your body in new ways. Claudia is a good one, don't let go of her! ❀

    Shout out from Malaysia!!!
    There is something in sweet potatoes that is magical i think haha He explained to me the properties of the sweet potatoes but i just sum it up with magic…..my brother who used to have migraine is now migraine free because of sweet potatoes- and the purple sweet potatoes is the best he said and that little thing can give you loads of energy.

    I'm on fodmap diet more or less and it is amazing how much it changed my life and improved my overall digestion. Next food for you to try…hmm…buckwheat crepes (it is gluten free)

    Congrats on adding new foods to your diet. While our situations are a bit different, I too have so many dietary restrictions with what my body is down with, (+ little weird rules, like I can't eat too much of one thing in a row or my body becomes intolerant to it) that when people ask "what can't you eat?" it's just a shorter list to tell them what I can.

    My mum has something similar but much less severe. She gets migraines but loads of foods and she went on fodmap and paleo .She found it really helpful!! Found the video really interesting. Hope your food journey continued going well throughout 2017 πŸ™‚

    As someone who is in recovery from an ED I appreciate the crap out of the trying new foods thing. I ate pizza for the first time in over six months today! It had white cheese and broccoli rather than lots of cheese sauce and toppings… but it still counts!

    One day half a year ago my stomach suddenly decided it wanted to be vegan. All kinds of animal products suddenly made me sick. I've no idea why and neither does the doctors I've talked to. But since this is the least of my problems with my body right now, I've kind of just accepted it. But it'd be great if I can eat fish and cheese again one day!

    You're the first person who I've heard mention heart palpitations after eating really sugary fruits!! I've had this issue for a year now and I feel like I've been kicked by a horse in the chest immediately if I eat a small bite of banana. Do you happen to know if this has a name? My GP doesn't recognise it as a problem. πŸ™ xxxx

    i don't eat meat and dairy cause it makes me literally curl in a ball, vomit and ehm have toilet problems. Also i hate eggs they're wobbly and gross. But I do consume honey, well not like straight up honey on toast (i hate the consistency) but if it's in something and i don't notice the consistency of the honey idc

    You are so brave. I throw up a lot when having migraines and I hate it so much and have a phobia of vomit so I will ley on the bathroom floor sleeping so that Im close enough to the toilet that I dont need my "throw up bucket" because that bucket will need to be cleaned afterwards and I simply cant do it. So if knowing there's a migraine coming I will starve myself so I only throw up water and tea. Because thats let disgusting I feel. I could never do what you do and test out if I would throw up or not.

    Love hearing about your food journey! I LOVE oatmeal and olive rosemary bread (if you're allowed to try bread yet). I had to cut out a TON of carbs for a food allergy-type thing. And I'm vegan. It was so hard. But now I"m slowly introducing them back again πŸ™‚

    It's great that you can eat rice! There are so many recipes out there made with rice so it will really expand your food range. I'm a big fan of bananas and have banana pancakes quite a lot. I make them with wheat flour, but I know of a recipe that only has bananas and egg in it, which is quite tasty too.

    Omg… I found you last month, and then this vid… You are wonderful! No, MAGICAL. I can't imagine walkin on ur shoes… I can't even only 1 day having a diet program like you…

    Watching this i realize… that i should be more gratefull for the all food i can eat…
    Maybe for me (and other people) it's look (and feel) common complaining food, like "too salty", "the rice is too mushy", "i don't like fish", "i don't like spinach" etc… And being long face all day bcause of it…
    And actually still having SO SO many choices of food…
    But… Knowing there are real person, living with such strict diet…
    Omg… How ungratefull i am…. All this time…

    My body doesn't like rich food because I don't eat rich food very much, so a lot of times when I do eat rich food I get sick.

    My mom ate 10 bananas in a row once as a kid so my grampa had to hide from her. But ppl don't eat more than one a day, i guess

    I can't sleep without eat rice… Oh rice.. and my ex is from polish. About a year she lives with me and she eating rice too of course and she like it. Also Tempe goreng but I don't know how to say in English. I didn't. Know that in Poland there is no lizard or many thing here in Asia. And Jessica look.
