Does Nicotine Cause Candida?

August 16, 2019

Greetings. Eric Bakker from New Zealand, a naturopath
from way down under. Thanks for coming back. The question today is does nicotine cause
candida either by smoking or chewing tobacco. No it doesn’t. I’ve seen no link with nicotine at all and
candida. But nicotine can affect behavior, and it can
affect appetite, and it can modify how you feel about food, which could cause candida. Nicotine is very addictive, and every cigarette
got around about two milligrams of nicotine, just a small amount. Nicotine has a very powerful effect on the
parasympathetic receptor cells in different parts of the body. And you can see when people get all worked
up, “Give me a cigarette quick. Give me a cigarette.” And it basically calms them down. It has a relaxing effect on people. You look at a lot of smokers, and you’ll find
that they light up at particular times of the day, and particularly if they get stressed
or tense or nervous, they’ll want to have a cigarette because it has a tiny bit of a
calming effect on the body. I’ve not seen tobacco associated with actually
causing candida, but I certainly have seen it linked up with either increasing or decreasing
appetite, and making people’s taste affected. They’re going to eat too much food, or they’re
going to have food with lots of spices or sugars or sweet chili sauce or things in there
to make them taste better because smokers generally they don’t have a great sense of
taste. If they modify the food with obviously junk
in there, well that could cause candida. But that’s my take on it anyway. Anyway, why are you smoking? Shouldn’t be smoking in the first place. Thanks for the question.
