CryptoLocker Virus Recovery

January 25, 2020

I spend a lot of time fishing in Canada, … spend a lot of time on Lake Superior. I actually own two fishing resorts in
Canada. That’s actually where my passion is. Myself and two buddies bought it, not really knowing
what we were getting into. I do all the booking of the customers. We’ve got two different web sites and all
the billing for their trip, their down payments their
deposits… are all tracked on my desktop. I’m the
only guy with the key …to tracking all of this. It started right around April 1st. I just noticed the computer was starting
to run a little slower.I started getting these error messages, which turned out to be from this ransom
malware called “CryptoLocker,” the virus that encrypts all your files. The only way to get a key is to pay them
money. On Saturday I sent an email and called the
800 number. The support guy from Code42 sent me …a sign-in so that he could log in
remotely to my desktop. four minutes later there was a file came
up called “Restored files,” …and he said, “Mark that’s where your files will be; it’s starting the Restore.” It truly was a huge relief! Previous
backups that I’m familiar with… …you had to push a button or remember this
remember that and with this product, I do
absolutely nothing. Which is perfect for a retired guy.

I've been running Crash Plan for almost 2 years now. It's been seamless and doesn't degrade system performance. With having both PCs and Macs, it's nice to have a single backup system that works perfectly on both. While I don't have to do restores very often, I've had to do a few, and Crash Plan has come through perfectly every time! Thank you Code 42 for making such a great product!

Our family switched to CrashPlan about 3 years ago, when Mozy significantly increased their price.  We could not be more pleased and we recommend CrashPlan to everyone!  If you had an affiliate or referral plan, I think I'd be rich. 🙂
