Candida Spit Test: What Is The Spit Test For Candida?

September 3, 2019

Question that I get asked every now and then.
What is the spit test for Candida? Is the spit test accurate for Candida? Does it work?
Is it quackery? Is it a fraud? Is it a stupid test? Is it unscientific? Is it inaccurate?
Is it bogus? These are all the sort of questions I get asked around the spit test. I can tell
you now, I’ve been recommending the spit test for patients for over 20 years, and I don’t
think it’s a bogus test at all. I think it’s a very valid test. What I like about it, it’s
an instant test. Here’s how you do it and this is the way to
do it properly. I’ve seen many YouTube clips and read many blog posts where people are
getting inaccurate advice on how to do the test. The way to do this test, when you get
up in the morning, you put nothing in your mouth before you do the test. This is what
I call a fasting test, so you have your meal at night whatever it is you brush your teeth,
you go to bed, all the things that you normally do. When you wake up in the morning before
you put anything in your mouth at all, no coffee, no donuts, or whatever you have for
breakfast, no cereal, no muesli, nothing; you just go straight to the kitchen and get
a glass of water, clean water, it doesn’t matter whether it’s tap water or whatever
kind of water. I don’t think it makes any difference. And you work up a bit of saliva
in your mouth and you spit that into the glass of water, and then you watch it. You just
put the glass down there on the bench top and you leave it there for up to an hour. What you’ll notice if you haven’t got a yeast
infection or if you’ve got a very, very minor one or insignificant one, you’ll notice that
the saliva will float on top of the water. It’ll just sit there. But what you’ll notice
if you’ve got a yeast infection, especially a bad yeast infection, is you’ll start getting
strings hanging under the saliva, and they’ll hang right down. Ever been to a cave and seen glowworms in
a cave? You see all those little sort of things hanging off the cave. It’s a bit like that.
It’s a bit like you’ve got a level surface and something in a suspension hanging underneath
it. If you’ve got a very severe yeast infection, you might even find in the middle of glass
a cloud, almost like a little cloud, there could be specks in them or there could also
be little specks or things on the bottom of the glass. These are things that may occur
with a major yeast infection. How does this occur? Why is this a valid test?
People who have got a yeast infection, especially moderate to severe yeast infection, they’re
attracted to sugar and sweet things. What I find is many times these people will eat
these foods and they’ll start producing mucus in their mouth and extra saliva build up.
I’ve had this conversation with many people with severe Candida, and they’ll say that
they can eat a food and they’ll have to clear their throat not long after or they’ll have
mucus in their nose, and this will happen. This will build up as a consequence of the
yeast, the Candida albicans in their mouth, on their tongue, inside their mouth. The yeast
starts getting attracted to the sugar. It starts forming a mucus compound, so when you
spit that in the water, you’ll notice there’s extra mucus there. It’s quite large globules
of mucus and phlegm or catarrh whatever you want to call it. Many people with Candida have to clear their
throat or clear their nose; in the nasal pharyngeal region there will be mucus in there. They
wake up in the morning with a cough. The mucus can be in the bronchial tubes. The mucus can
be anywhere in this whole region. It can be really phlegmed up. The esophagus can be really
choked up with phlegm, with mucus. So people, who eat sugar or crave sugar, will often have
excess production of this mucus and a lot of saliva build up in the mouth and extra
bacteria contribute in there as well, which are often the specks or the cloud. You’ll
get Candida in the mucus. You’ll also get bacteria in there and they’ll form this whole
big soothing sort of an oozing sort of mess that hangs down off the water, so it is a
valid test. I’d like you to do this weekly. In my book, Candida Crusher, I mention about
the various different kinds of home tests you can do. With the spit test, it’s good
to do it every week for a three-month period as you’re going through the Candida Crusher
program. In my book, I’ve actually created this test tracker here, so a Candida test
tracker. What you can do there with the various tests that I recommend is you can actually
write down the score of mild, moderate or severe for the test to track your progress. In other videos, I’m going to talk about other
kinds of home tests you can do like the craving test, the sound test, the smell test, the
tongue test, there’s various other tests. These are tests you may never have heard of,
but I’ve developed some of these tests in clinical practice because I find they really
work. The spit test is a really good one you can
use at home right now, so give it a go. Thanks for tuning in.

i am one of those who makes the "sounds" to unblock in the mornings. i was horrified at what came out in the water! you are the only one who described it with accuracy. one person(a doctor) suggested to lightly rinse before spitting, to remove any pollens, dust, etc. that you may have inhaled thru the night. not an accurate result, not like the first one. then, unaware, i followed a remedy to rid myself of my "morning routine",– lemon juice, teas.applecider vinegar in water, and it was better, but not easy on the throat. maybe the yeast turned back to chase the acids? :/   thank you, you're a great help!

Hi Eric Bakker. I understand you are Dutch. Ik ook. 🙂 But I understood from a previous comment it is easier for you if I write in English. So I have been having a white tongue for a very long time and have had problems with my gut since childhood. I had a lot of problems with anemia and B-12 deficiencies before (childhood and adulthood) so I always thought that was the problem. I have had some other health issues the doctor's can't figure out, this includes a sudden very very red nose where the redness also sometimes spreads to the cheeks. Plus I pretty much feel very fatigued most of the time. But now I came across your channel while looking up a remedy for a white tongue. I did the spit test and I would say it looks like candida might be the culprit. But I understand this is not a fool-proof test. Could I start a treatment/diet myself to see if this helps me? Or would you recommend I see a doctor beforehand to make sure this is the problem? Thanks for the videos and taking the time to advice people.
P.S. I should also say that last year I had a lot of antibiotics (3 months in a row, than again a month, and then again – because of acne and bladder infection) and a very stressful period in my life. I also eat very healthy and very little meat (pretty much no processed foods, I rarely eat sugary things nor do I have a craving for it).

Doc, it's an unbelievable test! I took it after the second cycle having the yeast, a possible sign of pregnancy for which I'm dearly hoping. Now what? How do I treat it without antibiotics if there is a chance for conception?

Hi , I have been watching your videos. I have all the symptoms of a yeast infection and yeast cells also came up in my urine analysis test. I am always tired, can't focus, have constipation sometimes and the other times, I have bad stomach ache coupled with watery stools. I struggle with terrible anxiety and depression too. The problem is that I have had a kidney transplant and I am on immunosuppressants. It irks me so much that my nephrologist laughs off all my complaints and thinks that everything is in my head. I just don't know what to do.
I am a vegetarian and I don't drink and nor do I consume too much sugar (although I crave a lot). Sadly, I am young and every decision regarding my health is taken by my dad. I also think that merely a diet won't work in my case because of my health problems and next to nil immunity. I just don't know what to do. Please suggest me a foolproof diagnostic test and some harmless medication so that I can prove to them that I do have this problem. 🙁

Hi , I find your videos very interesting and helpful and I would like to thank you very much for them. I noticed though in every video that you have to clear your throat very frequently and also have to pull up the mucus in your nose etc. This confuses me as I would expect you to be free from candida. Is there any other reason for this or could it be that your candida hasn’t fully cleared up yet?
Would you please be kind so kind to explain this to me? Thank you
