Can Depression Be Related To A Yeast Infection?

August 17, 2019

Good day, Eric Bakker again, naturopath. A
question I do get asked from time to time. Can depression or anxiety, but particularly
can depression be related to a yeast infection? Well, it certainly can in some cases. I’ve
seen many patients over the years that had an unresolved yeast infection sometimes spanning
20 years that was never resolved or completely ignored by their health care practitioner,
deemed a hypochondriac by family or friends, and these are the sort of patients that can
develop a mild or even moderate depression and anxiety. I can remember myself in my 20s having a yeast
infection that was unresolved, and I can remember the days when I got made to feel like a hypochondriac.
My doctor wanted me to see a psychiatrist. My girlfriend didn’t believe me. And it was
quite sad. And these things actually do occur from time to time. Depression can be related
to unresolved Candida in particular. If you suffer from depression or anxiety and
believe you have a yeast infection, I’d recommend that you go and talk to a health care professional
that has experience with Candida. And in cases I have certainly seen a resolution of depression
once the health improved and the yeast infection was cleared. I certainly believe there is
a link between these conditions. So I hope that answers your question. Thank
you.
