A very high stress job. Many people never say Thank You. They expect miracles. Deny reality.

The highest suicide rate of any profession? WOW! I've dealt with some apathetic doctors, but have had some fantastic ones too. I see this most of the time in the ER.

Excellent topic. Who wants to be treated by tired, sleepy doctors, but most doctors are overworked. They are working over 80 hours a week (legal limit). Their hours should be reduced. Thank you for shedding some light to this age old problem.

This will only get worse if progressives have their way with socialized healthcare.

Pair with clinical pharmacists , especially for family medecine and the icu . Studies have shown it decreases doctors burnout rates and improves care for the patient .
Give community pharmacists time and resources to teach patients don't overwhelm them for the sake of cooperates . Increase their role , a track to earn licence to independently prescribe like in the UK . repeat certain prescribtions for chronic ilness . Canada is also a great example .
It would really revolutionise health care at a fraction of the cost.but mostly it would save lives if doctors and patients.
