Ask a Doctor: Staph Infection

I am an old admirer of Dr. Brady. Not only remember his fine health reporting and his wonderful singing abilities. Probably the cameraman should have done him a kindness and not have videoed him from the chest down. That tremor in his left hand bespeaks of his own failing health and might, for some, not lend to the credibility of his report. As for me, I definitely continue to respect him but now, am very concerned for him.

Staphacocous is worse in the warm summer months and will get worse as our planet heats up. The staph infection smells like rotten meat and draws flies. If the infection is not bandaged, the flies lick it up then spread it when they land on breaks on the skin as small as a mosquito bite. The overuse of antibiotics has created MRSA, a resistant form of staph. When those infected quit taking the antibiotics before the entire prescription is done, the stronger staph cells that survived will have an immunity to that antibiotic.

To avoid staph treat wounds quickly with hydrogen peroxide and bandage them to keep flies out. An alternative is after cleaning the wound with hydrogen peroxide is to sprinkle on "Goldenseal" powder a couple of times while it's absorbing the HP. When this dries it forms an impenetrable antibiotic scab.

If a wound is getting red around the edges this means that your body is fighting the infection. When this happens I apply "Povidone Iodine" ointment by massaging it in a circular motion around the wound to get the blood flowing. Pharmacies don't stock this because it stains clothing… Buy on amazon and keep it on hand.

Try to heal your staph naturally before reverting to internal antibiotics, which should be your treatment of last resort. And, if you take antibiotics, take the whole bottle on the prescribed schedule.
