A Surprise Proposal and Ellen’s BIG Wedding Gift for a Viral Couple

December 20, 2019

All right it’s time to read
some of our favorite tweets, in a segment we call,
“Show Me Your Tweets.” [THEME MUSIC] [APPLAUSE] Thought that was
gonna go on longer. All right. Here’s the first one. “Almost 22 years ago,
two people had sex and now I have to go
to work every day.” [LAUGHTER] Here’s another one. “Me, after using
‘furthermore’ in an essay.” Lastly, I could not
ignore this one. It’s a proposal at
the Eiffel Tower. Look how beautiful that is. It says, hi, @chrissyteigen
and @TheEllenShow. My parents aren’t going to
attend my wedding because they don’t like that I’m gay. I need someone to walk
me down the aisle, and someone else for a
father-daughter dance. Please come. My fiancée and I would cry. Well, their names
are Kate and Sarah. And they don’t know this,
but they’re my next guests. Come on down. [MUSIC PLAYING] Hi. Hi. Oh, my God! Hi. Hi. Thank you. Hi. I’m not wearing
waterproof makeup. Hi. Hi. Thank you. Hi. Surprise! Who’s who? I’m Kate. I’m Sarah. Hi, Sarah. Hi, Kate. I know. We just kind of pulled
you into the audience. You thought you were
doing something else. Ellen is looking me in the
eyes and I’m freaking out. Well, first of all, that
was a beautiful picture. That was amazing. So did you know
this was planned? Me? Yeah. No. I had no idea that this
was going to happen. And I’ll tell you why. It’s because, for
about a year, like, we talked about getting engaged. So the trade-off was,
I’ll get down on one knee. I’ll get her
reaction, and then she can watch me walk
down the aisle. Fair. So for about a
year, I was planning the ring and how am I going to
propose and things like that. And then once we were
doing this photo shoot in front of the Eiffel Tower,
the woman had me pose in a way where my back was towards her. And then she got down on
one knee and I blacked out. So no, I definitely did
not see this coming. All right. So what’s the most memorable
moment of that day? So, for me– well, first
and foremost, I just have to thank you. Because if it wasn’t
for someone like you, I would have never had the
courage to just go out there in the public and be able
to propose to my fiancée. So many people
don’t accept that. And you’ve paved the way
for queer women everywhere. And it’s just, like, the
most inspiring thing. Like, seriously. [CROWD CHEERING] Ellen! Everybody deserves love. That’s the most important thing. It’s all that matters
in this life, is love. And the fact that some people
don’t understand that it’s just, you know, it’s just love. There’s nothing wrong with it. And the fact that your
family doesn’t accept it, I am so sorry. And not your whole family, some
of your family is OK, right? Right. So all of my siblings, I
five brothers and a sister, they’re all absolutely
phenomenal with me. My mom was really terrible. I’ve been out for,
like, five years now. So she’s said, you
know, everything you could think of under the sun. But coming out and owning it,
and growing over the last five years, has been
the greatest gift. I just am so thankful
that I came out, because it’s taught me courage
and just owning who I am. And it allowed me to
be my authentic self. Yep, yep. Exactly. [APPLAUSE] All right. I am so happy that you
had the courage to do it, because a lot of people don’t
have the courage to do it. So that’s the most
important thing, is it teaches you
how strong you are. Yeah. And also to be 100%
who you are born to be. I can’t be at the wedding, but
I have a stand-in that is–so– Oh, my God. Oh, perfect. There’s tissues in it’s hand. Like, for a tissue, you can– That is perfect. Oh, I’ll need that. I’ll need that. That’s perfect. This will wipe your
face, like this. You just have somebody
wipe your face like that. I love that. All right. And then I have a real
wedding gift for you. But we’re going to take a break. And then I’ll give
you a wedding gift. OK? Oh, my God. All right. We’ll be back. We’re back with Kate and
Sarah, and I told you I have a wedding gift for you. And it’s behind the door. So it’s a big present. Let’s open it up. All right. All right. Oh, my God. Let’s unwrap the gift. [MUSIC – PHARELL WILLIAMS,
“HAPPY”] (SINGING) Because I’m happy. Oh, my God! [APPLAUSE] [SIDE CONVERSATIONS] So these are family and friends
that we surprised you with. So, Sarah, do you want to
tell her why everybody’s here? Yeah. I mean, I know you
already proposed to me. But of course you know I had
to get my piece in there, because you deserve it. And there’s no
better way to do it than in front of our chosen
family, and of course our biggest role model. Oh, my God. And the way that you
feel today, is the way you make me feel every day. And I can’t wait to spend
my life feeling that way. I love you so much. Will you be my wife? [CROWD CHEERING] Oh, my God. Holy [BLEEP]! Oh, my God! Congratulations. Thank you. Woo! Thank you so much. Oh, my God! So for Kate, and for
all the people out there that are not accepted
by their family, you are loved by so many people. And we love you for
who you are exactly. So know that. And anybody struggling
out there, just be proud of who you are
and know that you’re going to find a different family. And maybe that family will
come around eventually. But for now, you
have this family. And I want to say,
congratulations. I’m sorry I can’t
be at the wedding. But Shutterfly loves
stories like this, and they want you
to have an open bar, so they’re going to give
you a check for $25,000. What! We’ll be back. Hi, I’m Andy. Ellen asked me to remind you
to subscribe to her channel so you can see more
awesome videos. Like videos of me getting scared
or saying embarrassing things, like ball peen hammer
and also some videos of Ellen and other
celebrities, if you’re into that sort of thing. Oh, [BLEEP]! God! [BLEEP]
