2 AWESOME Wardrobe Hacks for Chronic Illness Warriors

March 9, 2020

This idea came to me like a year ago and
I finally gotten to the point where I don’t care what society thinks. It’s clothing. If it works for you, wear it. Hey everyone,
I’ve just discovered a couple of really great wardrobe hacks that have helped me as a person with a chronic illness. I just received my first Prime Wardrobe
order so I’m going to try some stuff on and then I’ll get back to you guys and
discuss these hacks and how they’ve helped me to feel more normal and more a part of society even though I’m often stuck at home and usually live in
sweatpants, which aren’t super fashionable. I just subluxed my hip,
knocked over my other tripod trying to get onto the bed to do this video,
because I’m sitting on a bed instead of in my office because I’m too tired to
get into the office. Oh my goodness. Life with EDS Anyway, back to the topic. I am wearing jeans with no pain for the first time in almost three years. I can’t believe I waited so long to try this hack. Maternity jeans. That’s right. Am i pregnant? Absolutely not. In fact, if you’ve seen some of my other videos, you
probably know that my husband and I are in the process of adopting older
children. I’m wearing maternity jeans because my stomach has a tendency to
bloat really badly. I have slow motility and that causes
some bloating I also have endometriosis and adhesions in my abdomen all of those
things make my stomach really painful and tender the rigidity of the band and
closure on normal jeans causes so much pain that I literally can’t wear them
for more than about five minutes and I can only wear them when I’m standing up
as soon as I sit down the button has to be undone and even then it’s really
painful I first got the idea to try maternity jeans from Jim Hubbard’s
youtube channel wheels no heels I’ll put a link to her channel she’s really great
and has all sorts of cool hacks one of her main reasons to try out maternity
jeans was so that when she sat in her wheel
chair or when she transferred her butt crack didn’t the show which is a great
reason if you’re sitting for most of your time out of the house you probably
share a similar worry constantly about where your pants are in relation to your
shirt and your back it’s pretty annoying but her video got me thinking wait a
second the top part of maternity jeans is just like leggings and I have to wear
leggings pretty much all the time because they’re the only things that
don’t hurt my stomach too badly this idea came to me like a year ago and I
finally gotten to the point where I don’t care what society thinks or if
maternity jeans are supposed to be for a certain type of woman at a certain time
in her life it’s clothing if it works for you wear it I’m really excited to
wear these jeans on mine and Matt’s date with our friends Emily and Eric in a
couple weeks we’re going to an escape game place with my wheelchair and
possibly a walker and Emily’s service dog so it’ll be fun maybe I’ll film it
for you guys if you’re interested but I’m just so stoked because I haven’t
been on a date in jeans and forever before I get into my second hack I just
want you to know that I would love to hear from you in the comments about
adaptive clothing that works for you or clothing that’s not supposed to be
adaptive but you have adapted to work for your life in your body hack number
two how did I shop for these jeans without leaving my house for me getting
my wheelchair in and out of the car driving to more places than necessary
especially with a permanent migraine shopping in the store getting in and out
of my wheelchair trying things on it’s just exhausting which makes shopping
almost impossible for me in a typical setting I’ve looked into curated
clothing boxes and services but I really don’t have an interest in paying the
monthly fees or the quarterly fees for services like that I don’t have a big
clothing budget and I don’t buy that much clothing anyway I just don’t need
it so when I do need something it’s usually one maybe two items at a time
and it’s very infrequently but recently I’ve seen more and more ads for the
Amazon Prime wardrobe personal shopper I think that’s what it’s called
in North America anyway I’ll put a link to it in case you’re
interested in looking at it for yourself how it works is you shop on Amazon in
their Amazon wardrobe section and you can order between three and eight items
at a time to try on at home all of your items come in a bag that is resealable
and has a prepaid return label and you have seven days to try on all the pieces
and decide what you want to keep and what you want to return returning it is
super easy because you just stick it all in the bag seal it up and take it back
to a UPS store I ordered five things and I’m keeping these jeans and this shirt
because they fit me so wonderfully I was lucky enough to find long jeans which is
pretty hard apparently in maternity jeans who knew some other reasons that
you might want to try using a service like prime wardrobe or if you have mass
cell activation syndrome and it’s hard for you to go into a really smelly store
all you have to deal with are just you know the slight chemicals on the
clothing that you get not a store full of perfume or textile chemicals if
you’re autistic like me and the bright lights or the noises or the pressure of
the salespeople trying to talk to you while you’re shopping is really
bothersome that might be another reason to try ordering clothing to your house
instead of going to the store and being overwhelmed by all of that can you think
of any other reasons why shopping at home or wearing maternity jeans are a
good idea I would love to hear from you in the comments if you want to see more
of my insights into disability or hacks for how to make life just a little bit
easier for people like us you can subscribe to my channel and definitely
hit the bell icon also because having a chronic illness I don’t have a regular
upload schedule I make videos edit them and upload them when I have the time and
energy so by hitting the bell icon you will just get notified when I upload a
video and you don’t have to keep checking my channel we’re wondering if
I’m active or not I really look forward to talking to you and getting to know
you have a great weekend so I’m not a pro photographer but I did take a few
pictures to give you an idea of what the jeans look like on me I’ll also put
links in the to specific brands and styles in case
you’re interested in trying on similar ones

I usually where jeans with elastic waists and men's jeans are higher up so I love them. I can never find the right maternity jeans, but that is great. I added in collagen, alfalfa tabs, turmeric with black pepper, and an enzyme with lower histamine Mediterranean style food to help my tummy. Fyi for those looking for someone on food See Fred Bisci. What a brilliant video!! Thank you!! The maternity wear I’d already thought of and tried out (fantastic tip because it works so well!) but I’d not heard of the amazon try-on service, so thank you very much! I’ve just checked and the service is also available in the U.K. hooray 😁 ^Stacey πŸ’œπŸ¦‹πŸ¦“

I have found shirts and sweaters with wide neck openings and looser in the shoulder to armpit, don't cause dislocations in my shoulders, or fingers. How soft are your maternity jeans? I need soft clothing and I am apprehensive to try denim from online.

I got the maternity hack from Gem too, works so well in my wheelchair and such an improvement on ways to try to get bigger jeans to be able to sit in them.

I love shopping online. Checking a size chart is so much easier than hunting down a clothing item I liked in a separate size! Then when the packages come, it’s like Christmas.
